NYC NERD SPOTLIGHT: Midtown Comics

Here in the U.S. comic book shops are no where near as common as they once were. That’s because as other forms of media rise, the popularity of physical comic books has declined somewhat. However, This Comic book shop is still on the up and up. Located on, 200 W. 40th Street in Manhattan, this comic shop is virtually in time square.

The store has a wide selection of comics like any good comic book store should have. You can find all the newest comics in all their editions for anything you are looking for. Want the new Scooby Doo comic? They probably have it. They have a wide section of older comics including some classic ones that are pretty rare. The store is pretty frickin’ big, spanning two floors. The best part of this place is that there are people of all ages shopping here, so old and young can partake in the fun alike.

If you like merchandise, especially figures, this is THE place to find them. This place has some of the coolest merch around from t-shirts and POPs to highly collectible figures, some of which are shown above. Best part is, if you are visiting from somewhere else in the world (which is often the case with them being located in times square), you can have your merch shipped where ever you want! This could be a great way to send someone a present.

My local comic book store got rid of their manga section, which I find odd since manga and comic subcultures have so much in common, but i digress. But, THIS place has got a pretty good manga section. If you want to buy manga i’d definitely recommend this place over your local Barnes and Noble.

All in All, I think that any nerd living in NYC or visiting it, should most definitely check this place out.
