Why Young Justice Deserves a Season 3
When I was younger, Justice League Unlimited had hit it’s prime, showing the new generation just how cool the world of superheroes could be. Fast forward a couple of years and DC gives us the immensely popular Teen Titans. This show followed the adventures of a younger generation of superheroes as they deal with their own problems with no help from the Justice League. As you may have recently heard, Teen Titans has been reincarnated into Teen Titans GO! This is a more childish and fun take on the Titans meant for a much younger audience. However, it does not have the incredible fighting scenes that the DC animated universe is known for. This video pretty much sums up my feelings on Teen Titans GO! Watch as Aqualad puts Robin in his place.
Young Justice unfortunately did not get picked up by Cartoon Network for a third season, which is a damn shame. It truly confuses me, as this show had excellent overall quality in terms of writing and action. It has far surpassed its predecessors. Where Justice League brought us established heroes, Young Justice brings us sidekicks like Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad, who are still trying to make a name for themselves. Where Teen Titans brings us comedic teens, Young Justice brings us teenagers going through teenage difficulties. One really cool aspect of this show is that characters age between seasons. We see Robin become Nightwing and other members getting promoted to the Justice League. Mixed in with the drama of being entrusted with running covert operations for the Justice League, this show is some of the best content the DC animated universe has to offer.
Season One Team (From left to right) Superboy, Zatanna, Kid Flash, Rocket, Robin, Miss Martian, Artemis, Aqualad
Season one focuses on the team trying to prove themselves. They don’t want to be seen as just no name sidekicks anymore. The team really struggles to come together, but eventually they pull it together to fight their biggest foe of all in the finale. Now season 2 is where it gets juicy. Some of the old team has left while new and exciting members have joined. The first episode shows a mission in which Wondergirl and Batgirl are the main heroes. Young Justice really expanded on some of the lesser known sidekicks and for that, we thank you.
Season Two Team (Left to right) Nightwing, Batgirl, Superboy, Blue Beetle, Robin, Wondergirl, Beast Boy, Bumblebee, Impulse, Miss Martian, Lagoon Boy
The main reason I watch superheroes is for, of course, the action. Young Justice has never once left me feeling like a fight scene could be better. The fight scenes in this show are easily on par with the DC animated movies. The video below is a slight teaser of the intense action scenes that come with this show. Fast-paced, hard-hitting, and sense-tingling are just some two word adjectives I would used to describe this show.
To wrap it up (because I still haven’t done my homework), Young JusticeĀ needs a season 3. Not because we want it, but because the team deserves it. However, there are rumors that Netflix will pick up the show for a third season so keep your fingers crossed! And if you haven’t watched but are strangely enticed by my writing, Young Justice seasons one and two are both streaming on Netflix.
Stay whelmed.
