Pokemon Z?
With the official announcement of Pokemon Sun and Moon, it seems like the long rumored Pokemon Z game, that fans were hoping to feature a Complete form Zygarde will not be seen any time soon, if even ever seen at all. However, we still know that we haven’t even seen a complete form Zygarde in any game yet. This begs to ask the question, when will we see the complete form Zygarde? Will the mystery surrounding this elusive Pokemon who debuted in X/Y be cleared up? All that we know from the X/Y games is that Zygarde maintained balance in the ecosystem , and its ability balances out the other regional legends — Yveltal & Xerneas. How could a Pokemon so powerful, and thematically similar to Rayquaza from generation 3 just be left and forgotten?
The Pokemon anime which is often named in conjunction with the games was called Pokemon X&Y. In the later seasons it became Pokemon XYZ. This lead many believe that we would see a Pokemon Z game after Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. But we weren’t so lucky to have seen another version so soon. The way I see it, there are 3 options left as to when we will see a complete form Zygarde in a game.
- The first option is that Pokemon Z comes out next year. This is still a possibility. It could be that the developers didn’t want to release Pokemon Z, which would essentially be a remake with a few changes and additions, right after the Ruby and Sapphire remakes. That might be far too long without new content for some fans, encouraging Nintendo to push Pokemon Z to next year, 2017, while releasing Sun and Moon this year.
- The Second option, and the most likely one as of now, is that there will never be a Pokemon Z, and we will see a Complete Zygarde in this new Sun and Moon generation. To me, this seems to be most likely outcome because waiting to give the fans a complete form Zygarde until 2017 wouldn’t make much sense, since fans who watch the series already know of the complete form.
- The third and final option that I see is that Pokemon Z comes out soon after Sun and Moon; not on the 3ds system, but the Nintendo NX, the system that is rumored to be announced by Nintendo at this year’s E3. It is possible that Pokemon Z may be a non handheld console game, somewhat similar to Pokemon Coliseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, which would be a great way for Nintendo to push their new console. However, Pokemon Z does not seem suited for this job at a glance, as it is a pseudo-remake.
All things considered there will likely be no Pokemon Z, and we will see Zygarde’s complete form in this new up coming gen of Pokemon. Perhaps as an obtainable legendary after beating the elite four. Its even possible that Sun and Moon will only give us the means to have Zygarde change forms, while having to transfer it from the previous games (kind of like Kyurem’s forms in Black2/White2). Whatever the case, I expect that we the players will be able to have a complete form Zygarde soon and clear the fog on this elusive Pokemon.
